The DDA consists of a seven member Board of Directors appointed by the Blairsville City Council. These dedicated individuals meet monthly to discuss issues relating to the revitalization of Downtown Blairsville. The DDA Board works closely with Program Manager Darren Harper, committee chairs, and volunteers. Please feel free to contact the DDA Board, Darren Harper, or one of the committee members for more information. They are open to input from the community and welcome creative suggestions. Volunteer opportunities are also available. Please read about the various committees - they welcome all newcomers! Several DDA programs are available to help with various projects including grants and loans. See DDA programs for more information.
Blairsville, the county seat of Union County, was incorporated on December 26,1835 and remains the sole incorporated community in the county. At the heart of Downtown Blairsville is the Historic Union County Courthouse, constructed in 1899, and now home to everything from the Union County Historical Society and Friday Night Concerts to a military museum and dollhouse collection. Nearby is the Blairsville City Hall (formerly the "old" jail built in 1934). Both historical buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places.
