Design Committee – creates an attractive, pedestrian-friendly downtown by capitalizing on the unique assets and heritage of the community; promotes improvements that are compatible with the community’s historic and cultural heritage. Project include:
The Design Committee is involved in creating a master plan for Downtown Blairsville. Its goal is to revitalize the designated area by creating an atmosphere that is inviting to everyone.
The Design Committee has worked on cleaning up the Downtown through various projects including the Great American Clean-up. Some projects are as simple as placing plants in front of a building. Larger projects include a new streetscape, adding awnings, and new seating. There are a number of building owners that are now seeking input on what they can do make their buildings more appealing.
Renovation can be costly. The DDA offers assistance in obtaining low interest loans and finding matching grants. Many owners will renovate in phases so as not to stretch the purse strings too much.
Organization Committee – builds consensus for the downtown revitalization program, provides an appropriate organizational framework, manages the overall program, and raises funds. Projects include:
Economic Restructuring Committee – develops a market strategy that results in an improved retail mix, a stronger tax base, increased investor confidence, and more stable economy in the downtown; recruits and retains businesses. Projects include:
