DDA says Thank You!
Saturday, May 8, 2010 was the Great American Clean Up in Downtown Blairsville. Many community volunteers joined the DDA, City, Chamber, County and Garden Club to clean up and beautify the downtown. Special thanks goes to Lynn Mosley and Marcia Little, Master Gardeners, who were extremely helpful in plant selection and distribution. The flowers were purchased from The Basket Barn, who provided assistance on drought tolerant, but beautifully colored plantings. Terry Kane, owner of Georgia Mountain Grinding and Recycling was generous in donating the soil and mulch again this year.
The Union County Interact Club provided hard working teens; who jumped right in to help and did not leave until the project was done. Many businesses participated by cleaning up and planting flower pots in front of their businesses, as well.
In an effort to promote our first annual Green Bean Festival a trellis has been added to some of the planters on the square. Watch for green beans to begin climbing these trellises in the near future. Go to www.GreenBeanFestival.com for more information.
